The guild of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood has expanded with a surprising new member, one that you might not want spoiled before the game arrives later this month. Ah, who are we kidding? You're going to want to know this.
Actually, wait. If you don't want to know about Ubisoft's latest cross-game cameo, you'd better back out now. Spoiler alert and all that. Though, if you follow Assassin's Creed closely, it's unlikely that you'll be too shocked by the appearance of... ...Metal Gear Solid 4's Raiden. Ubisoft says there'll be significantly more unlockable goodies in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood than before. This bonus content, which includes stuff like Florentine Noble Attire, Altair's Robes and the Hellequin Multiplayer Character to name just a few, is unlocked with Uplay points - currency earned by playing Ubisoft games (not just ACB). Ubi says there are more unlockables here than you can afford with all the Uplay points available in ACB, so choose carefully or you'll have to play another Uplay-enabled (Ubisoft) game to get everything. Here's a trailer showing how it all works, as well as giving you the first look of the Hellequin multiplayer character. [Source: CVG] Sony has gone to great lengths to convince gamers that the PS3 version of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is the one to get. First came the E3 reveal during Sony's press conference. Then, the PlayStation Network multiplayer beta. Now, one more piece of the co-opted marketing puzzle has been revealed: new DLC that will be free and exclusive to the PS3 version of the game. Entitled "Copernicus Conspiracy," this single-player add-on will have Ezio performing a variety of courier, protection and assassination missions in a story that has Nicolaus Copernicus as a target for his dangerous heliocentric belief -- that the world revolves around the sun, and not the other way around. Like Mafia 2 and Batman Arkham Asylum before it, the add-on will be available at launch as a separate download. Considering Blu-ray's copious storage capacity, we're not entirely sure why it can't be included on the disc, but we doubt PS3 owners will complain about getting a meaty extra for free.
